Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka Shankar is an Indian-born British American singer and musician is best known for her music. She was also the first and youngest woman to be awarded the British House of Commons Award. Anoushka is a new star on the rise in Indian sitar. She is a student as well as daughter to Ravi Shankar. Her birthplace was in London in 1982, and began her life by hopping back and forth from London as well as New Delhi. When she was only 13 when her first performance at New Delhi took place. Later she moved to Encinitas CA where she graduated from High School with honours in 1999. Anouskha still has a promising career in recording and performing even though she's young. She often joins her father in performances this she's been doing for several years. She released Anourag her first album solo in 1998. The following year, she released the Grammy nomination-winning Live at Carnegie Hall. Stage performances are a significant part of her work. She's performed at many important venues across the globe. Her first performance with the Sitar took place during her birthday celebrations for her 75th birthday in Delhi, four years after. Anoushka was able to gain a great deal of experience touring the world with the father. She appeared at Carnegie Hall in her teenage years, and recorded at George Harrison's WOMAD Festival. In recognition of being an outstanding musician in the field of Asian Arts, she was presented with the House of Commons Shield by British Parliament.
